Subject: RE: [plcs-dex] Requirements for annotation classes.
Hi Sean I wondered whether your requirement "11. To record any user classifications against the definition" covered the case where BAE (MOD or whoever) want to state in the data exchange agreement of a contract that a particular set of classes in an ontology are mandatory. In other words an ontology can be filtered to only provided the set of classes that are in the contract. If I have understood the requirement correctly I would say that this is a high priority requirement. I think that "6. To identify the status of the definition (e.g. in-work, checked, approved), together with the approval authority and approval date." needs to include indicating that a class is obsolete or deprecated and that a when deprecating a class, a mapping to the replacement class I required. "2. To identify any IPR against the definition." Once you have defined a class in an OWL file and published that OWL file, wont the IPR go with the OWL file (ontology) rather than the individual class? Also, if you have brought in a class from a source, wont the source define the IPR?
