TC184/SC4 wins top ISO award

I am delighted to be able to announce that the ISO committee responsible for STEP and PLCS has been awarded the prestigious Lawrence D. Eicher award for leadership and innovation.  This is the only award that ISO makes for its technical work - a sort of Nobel prize for standardisation, and was presented at the ISO General Assembly in Geneva today in front of over 400 delegates from 125 countries.

 

As I said in a brief acceptance speech for the award, it is a tremendous tribute to all the experts who have contributed their time and effort to the development and deployment of these SC4 standards.

 

Previous winners include the committees responsible for MPEG, ISO 9000, the oil and gas industry standards (TC67) and the shipping group (TC8)

 

I am told that ISO will issue a press release this week - keep an eye on www.iso.org - under "Latest news".
