Report from DEX Publication Project (Trine Hansen) Workplan and progress Trine Hansen was unable to attend the meeting. Her status report DEX_Publ_Proj_Status_Report_24_August_07_v1.doc is posted Good work and progress on areas where resources are assigned No work where resources are not assigned and that is bad! Need to either find resources, adjust timeline, or shorten scope Not a great deal of progress on DEX Help section Sean Barker (BAE Systems) back on project as of today Mats Nilsson to start working on Help section and has returned from leave Need to find additional resources for Eurostep effort. Will discuss with UK MOD Not much response from request for workplan hours consumed. Secretariat to send out additional request for information in early September Action item 33/1: Members please respond to request for hours consumed (All) Publication issues Good news from OASIS on publication issues. Discussion with OASIS clarified that there were no significant issues with naming conventions or templates, and that the document would not need to be reformatted. We can put an OASIS cover sheet on a DEXLib snapshot and publish as a version. Can add additional DEXs and change version. Must be under configuration control. An initial release has been developed, it is under review and will be sent to OASIS for comment Action 3/2: Rob Bodington to review OASIS template for use with DEX (Complete) Action 9/9: Howard Mason to raise publication issues with Mary McRae (Howard Mason) (Complete) Action 9/12: Rob Bodington to compile sample of DEX format and run through OASIS for approval (Rob Bodington) There will be a set of reference data published with DEXLib. Making changes to DEXLib to accommodate reference data publishing with OASIS standard. LOGSA have a lot of comments on the Help files. Will forward to Chair, Secretariat, and Project lead. The following DEXlib enhancements were reported A tool that makes it easier to create a dex/template is under development it replaces the scripts. We are using it to provide a GUI to drive the main functionality. A beta has been released Long form generation o Each DEX has an associated schema derived from the templates used in the DEX P28 XML Schema generation of the long form Templates uniqueness rules have been implemented Business DEXs and Standard DEXs are now aligned in test at the moment Number of usage tools developed allowing you to see what entities are used by what templates and various other combinations Configuration management tool is in development o This will allow tracking of releases of DEXlib for publication A number of other bugs/issues have been addressed 4. Report of Technical Oversight Group (Tor Arne Irgens) Difficult for Steering Group teleconferences due to scheduling conflicts. Next call To be determined. Issue - inclusion of explanatory entities in templates Action item 32/1: TOG Teleconference for resolving any outstanding issues (Tor Arne Irgens) (carried forward) Issue - requirements for update to PLCS standard TOG inquired of the status of a new edition for AP239. Currently scheduled for ISO systematic review toward the end of 2008 unless SC4 reviews earlier. Rob Bodington submitting some SEDS issues, but no budgeted plan for creating new edition or technical corrigendum. Need to ensure compliance with published AP and that DEXs and AP are in synchronization. It is a question of timing between an updated ISO standard and release of a DEX. Proposed changes to AP239 should be discussed at the SC4 Dallas meeting. Ninety percent of SEDS are related to select extensions only for AP239. Need list of agreed SEDS against AP239. Action item 30/3: Develop and submit issues/SEDS to SC4 (Rob Bodington) Have established a STEPMOD mirror site on SC4ONLINE that is working well. Users with an SC4ONLINE user name and password can download modules. 5. Feedback from Implementations Action item 27/1: Provide LOGSA (Lou Sciaroni/ Jim Colson) with information or points of contact that relate PLCS and MIMOSA on going work for the purpose of collecting information for on-condition maintenance (Howard Mason and Nigel Shaw) Action Item 28/1: Need to encourage publication of information about PLCS implementations on OASIS and PLCS DEXLib (All) Members are invited to present recent pilot activities. Feedback on PLCS success stories. Tangible business benefits. Issues and requirements a) Norwegian Deployment Working on JSF4I study. Mapping PLCS to SAP 4.6. Optimistic that by 2008 PLCS can be demonstrated to interact with SAP 2005. Funding for Norwegian big project looking good. Four year PLCS implementation project. Will review requirements and look at other relevant standards. Will hook them up with PLCS. Candidate standards include S1000D, 3000M, 4000A, SCORM, AP233, etc. Trying to cooperate with MIMOSA b) UK MOD Deploying the Aviation Maintenance DEX with the ATTAC project for the UK Tornado aircraft c) Swedish activities ASD, AIA and ATA have now signed an agreement on joint development of S1000D. -Leif Gyllstrom briefed on the projects on DEX1A&D and DEX3A&D. FMV is planning to implement their Business DEX for Item of Supply Information. This DEX is central to most of the applications within the Swedish Defence. The Business DEX specification is publicly available on DEXLib. Saab, together with EPM Technology in Norway, is just launching a two year project which will implement the ability to exchange Product and Task data for the Gripen fighter aircraft. d) DoD UID Requirements UID pilot project should be complete by the end of September e) AIA Engineering Data Interoperability Project AIA Data Interoperability project will recommend that PLCS be used as the US aviation standard. Potential use of PLCS for technical data packages (TDPs). May form the basis to create a PLCS DEX to supersede ISO 10303-232. PLCS paper will be submitted to the AIA Technical Operations Council by the end of October f) Others John Zimmerman (Honeywell FM&T) is developing a DEX for assembly work instructions. Also involved in PDES, Inc. long-term data retention project. LOGSA GEIA-0007 published this week Airbus (France) is working on retention of other management data. PLCS is a good contender. Also can be used for a Change Order in customer support. Members please advise Jean Yves (Airbus) if you desire to participate in these activities. UK MOD TLSS contract for additional tasks is imminent. Tasking includes developing about 7 to 12 DEXs including business rules, tailoring engine, and reference data. In support of future aircraft carrier acquisition. Action item 33/2: Members are requested to develop a one-page information sheet on their projects for posting on the OASIS PLCS TC website (All) 6.
