Subject: Groups - Jotne PLCS Web Services (EDMplcsServices Interface Documentation v1.1829.pdf) uploaded
Due to popular request, Jotne hereby publishes the web services for PLCS that have been developed over the last few years. Regards, Tim Turner -- Mr. Timothy Turner The document named Jotne PLCS Web Services (EDMplcsServices Interface Documentation v1.1829.pdf) has been submitted by Mr. Timothy Turner to the OASIS Product Life Cycle Support (PLCS) TC document repository. Document Description: This draft document represents possible set of web services for use with PLCS that may be considered by the OASIS PLCS TC. A brief overview of these have been provided at various events and last at the PLCS Implementers Workshop in Reading, UK in November 2010. All comments are gratefully received. This open PDF file documents a set of web services that have been developed by Jotne for use on a number of PLCS projects such as the NOLITO project which was documented on DEXLIB, and others that include the OPDIM and TruPLM projects, (but were not documented on DEXLIB). The services are defined at the product lifecycle management level and as such extend the functionality of PLCS required for implementations. These business-level services are functionally grouped covering data content such as; Product Management, Breakdown Management, Document Management, File Management, Activity Management, Task Management, and Baseline Management. User management, Search facilities and other General services are also provided along with those for system Access Control and Archival services. Each of these groups are broken down into a set of messages (e.g. storeBreakdown, deleteBreakdown, getBreakdowns etc.). Each message has a description of the service and a structure which holds the information. Both the descriptions and the structures are provided using the Web Service Description Language (WSDL). Some prefer to provide the structure definition into a separate schema (.xsd file) which may have some benefit if these are subject to frequent change. However, Jotne has found that having all the information in a single WSDL file makes life a little easier for the implementer and less files to manage. The structures (or definition) for these services are themselves modeled in EXPRESS-G and documented as EXPRESS entities visible from the content management page. These are also included as part of the documentation provided. These structures are mapped to the OASIS PLCS templates so that the implementer / service user does not need to understand the undlerying PLCS AP239 schema iteslf. The services for reference data are re-used from the BuildingSmart domain that uses the International Framework for Dictionaries (IFD) that was standadized under ISO 12006-3:2007) and has been in use for several years and numerous projects. This is essentially an EXPRESS representation of reference data which can be populated from the PLCS OWL files.
