Subject: FW: PMRM TC sub-committees
FYI: In case we want sub-committees. Michael and John From: Mary McRae
[mailto:mary.mcrae@oasis-open.org] Hi Michael, The latter. While we have some subcommittees who
operate as if they were mini-TCs (they still can only make recommendations to
the TC and have no approval power) the original intent was that they would work
as informal groups and report their progress and make deliverables to the TC. I would advise against creating too many subcommittees; it's
still a fairly small TC with only 10 members. Spreading bodies too thin
typically results in little progress being made. Formally, for each subcommittee there must be a name, a
statement of purpose, intended deliverables, and a chair. You can find the
subcommittee creation request here: http://docs.oasis-open.org/templates/TCAdminRequests.html Regards, Mary Mary P McRae Director, Standards Development Technical Committee Administrator Member Section Administrator OASIS: Advancing open standards for the information society email: mary.mcrae@oasis-open.org web: www.oasis-open.org twitter: @fiberartisan #oasisopen phone: 1.603.232.9090 Standards are like parachutes: they work best when they're open.

– hi At
our next formal meeting (14 Oct), we plan to move
toward creating several ‘sub-committees’ and selecting
chairs. Do
sub-committees have to hold FORMAL meetings and keep
track of ATTENDANCE? Or, is their informal work simply
reported back to the PMRM TC for formal review and approval? Any
other differences between sub-committees and the whole TC? Thanks… Michael |
