Subject: ANSI virtual TAG on privacy
Attached are the reactions of the “ANSI virtual TAG
on Privacy” to the 10 recommendations of the ISO Privacy Steering Committee. The 10 recommendations
are not attached, but the reactions are informative, especially 7 and 10: - 7: “… In privacy, we do not have agreed-upon
goals, and so the construction of technical privacy standards is premature….” In ISO-time
(which is not subject to relativistic effects!), establishing “agreed-upon
goals” will take a lifetime. - 10: “ ‘Privacy by Design’
seems to us a principle, not a subject for which one can develop a standard.”
So, the
phrase ‘Privacy by Design’; is a loaded and bias-producing phrase. Better to
say “Making Privacy Operational” for our work. Michael |
