Subject: Business Scenario for Catalyst Demo Interoperability Event, Evening of July 9th

Business Scenario/Objective for SPML Demo at Catalyst this coming July:

The Objective of the SPML demonstration at Catalyst is to present to the
industry the progress SPML has made over the past year and how vendors are
looking at it to solve real business problems. The scenario will review the
business case of adding contractors from one domain (company) to another.
We will be showing this interoperability between a number of system
alongside a SAML token (probably hardcoded) that will represent the
pre-existing established trust between the different domains. SAML is
recommended to be used in this context to show the progress of where
standards have evolved to in Identity Management and to present to Burton
Group of the vision of the group inline with their message to the Catalyst
attendees.

Both RAs/PSPs and PSTs will fulfill the role behind the manufacturing domain
and the RA interface will surve as the supplier domain. The suppliers will
be able to be provision contractors/employees to PSPs through to PSTs via
the RA interface. The role of one or many organizations is not limited. A
number of roles - departments will be specified with certain attributes
(e.g., First Name, Last Name, etc.) which will be further specified in the
Standard Schema which will come out early this week from Darran.

Business context of the above described Business Scenario/Objective for the
SPML Demo:

As an example, a large manufacturing company may work with several suppliers
and business partners to provide a complete set of product lines. To help
ensure that its supply chain is managed most effectively, the manufacturer
must grant each set of users - employees, customers and partners - the
appropriate access to information and applications. Using SPML, the
manufacturer is able to automatically register, authenticate, and
accommodate the provisioned information requests in a secure environment to
protect each of these business relationships. This standards-based offering
utilizes the SPML specification in conjunction with Web services
technologies to create a secure, dynamic workflow.
