Subject: Re: [regrep-cc-review] How Should UML Be Treated? (Was: Re: [regrep-cc-review] Kickoff!)
Joe, There is also a requirement that you should be able to do ebXML - WITHOUT - having to use UML. Therefore - I had envisioned that - XML serialization - means precisely that - providing an XML structure that serializes the information of CCTS artifacts - and stores them into the registry. Whether they come from a UML tool - a database, a webform, a Perl script, a Java program - et al - we should not care. BTW - I thought that was another principle we were working to - providing open neutral mechanisms. Thanks, DW. p.s. Have any UML tool vendors said they will support interfacing to an ebXML registry and proposed a pilot? ================================================ Message text written by "Chiusano Joseph" > Precisely! Taking it from the UML object's point of view: My question is regarding whether or not the registry is expected to "reach in" to the UML model and extract the attributes that are defined in CCTS Section 7, and take action on them (by registering the UML model with those attribute values assigned to the RIM metadata as appropriate). Or, is everything that we need external to the UML model? I think that if we answer the question of what a UML model (not metamodel) looks like, it will help. <
