Subject: Re: [regrep-semantic] Next Steps
Hi Carl, Thanks for the summary of progress from the DC f2f. I am supportive of all the decision reached during the meeting. I am glad to have Protege team participating in our next Conference call and Dec 14 1-2PM US ET works for me. Please confirm this date after other SC members have had a chance to indicate their availability for that time. Thanks again. -- Regards, Farrukh Carl Mattocks wrote: >Greetings: > >I am happy to report that we discussed the following items at our informal >semantic soiree @ Washington DC. > >ROI - it was agreed that we should craft a simplistic business case for >storing semantic content in a Registry & Repository > >OWL - it was agreed the work on storing OWL in the Registry & Repository >presented by Dr Asuman Dogac and fellow researchers could form the basis >of Technical Note that should be published by March 2005. > >RDF - it was agreed that the (SPARQL) work of the WC3 DAWG group could >define how 'RDF Queries' are supported by the Registry & Repository . > >Semantic Reasoning - it was agreed that for the short term (to set >priorities) the Registry & Repository should enable 'semantic reasoning' >via 'cooperation/federation' with an external inference engine. > >Ontology Publishing - it was agreed that the Registry & Repository would >provide the greatest value to the Ontology Development Community by >providing then with an external 'Ontology Publishing' ability that would >allow their structures to be associated with many different types of >artifacts. > >Note : >To help us understand the requirements for an external 'Ontology >Publishing' ability - the developers of Protoge have offered to >participate in our next conference call (December 14th ?) > > >cheers > >Carl > > >
