Subject: Regrep 14 Jan conf call minutes
OASIS Regrep TC Conference Call Friday 14 January 2000 Minutes attending: Terry Allen, Commerce One Lisa Carnahan, NIST Angela Chen, MIT Robin Cover, ISOGEN Len Gallagher, NIST Mike Kass, NIST Norbert Mikula, Datachannel Duane Nickull, Goxml.com Ernest Nishiseki, Dun & Bradstreet Bruce Peet, XML/EDI Group Ron Schuldt, UDEF agenda: - discuss agenda, new items - review revised THTTP - conformance language - XMI 1.1 and concrete DTDs - new items - adjourn Terry related the news that xml.org is finally deciding who shall build the initial registry and repository, and that the TC must go through a process of rechartering (see separate email). XMI 1.1 and the implications of producing concrete DTDs from UML models were discussed; over the next several weeks Terry will be sorting this out in meetings in Santa Fe (OFMR) and Orlando (EBXML). Lisa Carnahan commented on the conformance language document she mailed to the list; it is a standard paper, not Regrep-specific, and NIST has found that conformance tests are really valuable during development. An open issue Lisa pointed out is whether OASIS wants to use conformance to protect a brand; the answer affects what kind of conformance language we will eventually want. It was realized that the ebxml-regrep committee's work should be discussed at every call. The committee adjourned until the next call, on 28 January 2000 (details to follow separately).
