Subject: RE: [regrep] Content Management Services
I think renaming the section to Content Management Services with one major section called Content Cataloguing Service makes a lot of sense, and am supportive of that idea I am less enthusiastic about a section for Content Validation Service. While Content Validation is very important, I am wondering if this would not be more appropriate as an implementation specific function? There are a number of validation tools available, and it seems that implementations will want to pick their own tools. However, if the section simply stated that the content must be validated in order to be accepted for submission, that would address the requirement for validation, but leaves the "how" up to the implementation. I could support this treatment of validation. -----Original Message----- From: Farrukh Najmi [mailto:Farrukh.Najmi@Sun.COM] Sent: Friday, September 27, 2002 5:51 AM To: regrep@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: [regrep] Content Management Services (Resending as it went to wrong alias previously) One suggestion I have since f2f is to rename Content-based Discovery chapter to "Content Management Services" and have one major section called "Content Cataloguing Service". I am also proposing that we add a very similar "Content Validation Service" which instead of creating catalog data simply returns returns a boolean on whether the content being submitted is syntactically and semantically valid or not. If not valid then it is not accepted for submission. Nikola can describe this proposed feature as we have discussed this in detail. The cost of specifying this new service is negligible as it builds on the work for Content-based Discovery. And it would be a most valuable feature as the biggest issue with registries is the quality of their content.
