  Important!  This information is for external (non-Boeing) users invited to attend a meeting hosted on the Boeing-WebEx Meeting Center service.  This information will help you join the Boeing-hosted meeting and use the WebEx product.

Overview of WebEx Meeting Center

Boeing is using WebEx Meeting Center to hold secure external conferences with customers, partners and suppliers.  WebEx Meeting Center is a web-based conferencing service with capabilities similar to NetMeeting.

The address of the Boeing-WebEx Meeting Center site is https://boeing.webex.com.   As configured for Boeing, some of the features of Meeting Center are:

  • Supports ad hoc meetings.  No advanced setup required.
  • Compatible with firewall and desktop configurations existing at Boeing and other companies.
  • Offers collaboration features similar to NetMeeting, including: application sharing, whiteboard and chat.  
  • Data is encrypted, so you can share sensitive information.
  • Supports conferencing with domestic and international companies.

How to get started using WebEx

To get started using WebEx, please review the documents included in the zip file:

  1. Setup your PC for WebEx:  Includes information on configuring your browser and downloading the WebEx software. 
  1. WebEx Training Resources:  Please sign up for WebEx's Fundamentals I training class.  This will provide you enough information to start using the product.  There is no cost for attending the class. 
  1. Security Guidelines:  Provides information on securely sharing information between companies.
  1. Joining Meetings and Sharing Applications:  Covers the steps necessary to join the Boeing hosted meeting and use WebEx.

What to do if problems occur

Follow these troubleshooting steps if you have problems using the Boeing-WebEx service:

  1. Make sure your browser is properly configured to access the Internet. 
    • See if you can access a known external web site on the Internet.  For example:  http://www.usa.gov  or  http://www.boeing.com 
    • If you can't access external web sites, then there may a problem with your browser configuration or your corporation's web proxy servers.  Contact your corporate Help Desk for assistance.  
  1. Be sure you are following the correct steps to join the meeting.  
    • The Boeing-WebEx site is:  https://boeing.webex.com 
    • Click Attend a Meeting.
    • Enter the required meeting information. See Joining Meetings and Sharing Applications.
  1. Next, contact your Boeing meeting host:
    • Make sure the host has started the meeting.
    • Confirm the meeting number and password.
  1. If the Boeing host cannot resolve the problem, then have the host contact the Boeing Help Desk for additional troubleshooting steps.
  1. If the Boeing Help Desk can't help, then contact WebEx Technical Support. 
    • The Boeing Help desk can provide the WebEx telephone number.
    • Or, go to https://boeing.webex.com
    • Click the Assistance-Support menu to display the telephone number for WebEx Technical Support.
