Subject: ebXML Registry and Web Services (Was Re: [regrep] UDDI as the registry for ebXML components: Typo?)

Help is on its way!

David Webber has already volunteered me to ebXML Mkt Steering to write
such a white paper (David, I'm very happy to do so - I just responded to
your request). I would be very happy to have a co-author (or 2) as well.

Should we start it right away? Perhaps not just yet - here's what I
propose:

(1) The TC produce a 2nd Technical Note in the "Web Services Series" on
discoverying Web services in an ebXML Registry

(2) As I mentioned on our last call, I have expanded my proposed Federal
CIO Council "ebXML Registry and Web Services" pilot to be a more general
"Registries and Web Services" pilot, in the spirit of the "Co-Existence
Paradigm" that I wrote about in [1]. So it would encompass ebXML
Registry and UDDI, and the interactions between them. I am presenting
more specifics at the 7/22 meeting of the Federal CIO Council XML Web
Services Working Group.

I believe that (2) can give us some good real-world use cases that we
can reference in the white paper. The use cases presented in the UDDI TN
that we've been discussing are great as well, and I am recommending
their inclusion in the pilot. Additionally, the creation of (1) would
allow us to reference it from the white paper, thus making an even
stronger case for ebXML Registry and Web services.

If anyone thinks that we should write this white paper prior to (1) and
(2), I'm certainly open to that as well.

Thoughts?

Joe
