Subject: [WSRF and Registry][Fwd: [OASIS members] Press Release to Announce OASIS WSN TC]]
Regarding this recent announcement of the new OASIS Web Services Resource Framework (WSRF) TC: We may want to consider a liaison to this TC, as there are numerous mentions of an XML registry or repository in its specification "Modeling Stateful Resources with Web Services" [1]. Some of these are: (1) p.10, middle: "A specific resource’s state may be implemented as an actual XML document that is stored in memory, in the file system, in a database, or in some XML Repository." (2) p.11, middle: "A WS-Addressing endpoint reference is an XML serialization of a network-wide pointer to a Web service. This pointer may be returned as a result of a Web service message request to a factory to create a new resource or, alternatively, from the evaluation of a search query on a registry of resources, or as a result of some application-specific Web service request." (3) p.15, middle: "The response message of a WSResource factory operation typically contains a WS-Resource-qualified endpoint reference containing a WS-Resource context that refers to the new WS-Resource, though a factory may convey the reference to the new WS-Resource through other means such as placing the WS-Resource-qualified endpoint reference into a registry for later retrieval." Thoughts/comments? We have targeted Wednesday, 17 March, for distribution. Note: a separate press release announcing the OASIS WSN TC will also be issued on this date. While OASIS deeply appreciates the contributions of all members to our technical work, we have a policy to list only Sponsor member companies in announcements directed to the press. The higher Sponsor member dues underwrite the cost of promotional activities such as press releases. The OASIS WSRF TC press release, therefore, will include the following statement: "OASIS WSRF Technical Committee members include BEA Systems, BMC Software, Computer Associates, Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard Company, IBM, NEC, Sonic Software, webMethods, <SPONSORS WHO JOIN BEFORE 15 MARCH>, and others." Sponsor level members that would like to send a quote on behalf of their organization in support of the OASIS WSRF TC may email that to me. Please include a name and title at your company to whom the quote can be attributed. If your organization is not a Sponsor member, and you would like to be featured as a major participant in the OASIS WSRF TC, please contact Scott McGrath (scott.mcgrath@oasis-open.org) for information on upgrading your membership to take advantage of this promotional benefit. **Our deadline for accepting Sponsor quotes for the press release is 5:00 pm US EST, COB Monday, 15 March.** http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/wsrf Carol ______________________________ Carol Geyer Director of Communications OASIS Voice: +1.978.667.5115 x209 _______________________________________________________________ This email list is used solely by OASIS for official consortium communications.
