Subject: RE: [regrep] "Registering Web Services in an ebXML Registry" TN - Definition of "Web Service" Still Good For Us?

Title: Message
I won't be able to dial in today due to a tight deadline, but I've attached the current version of the Web Services TN. It's 1/2 done, up to p.8 (line 251 or so). Please ignore any formatting/minor content updates such as the old date on the first page, lack of revision info, non-sequential section #'s etc. - those will be tackled later.

Please feel free to review the updated portion and provide feedback, while I fast forward on the rest. I've left track changes on while editing, if you'd like to see what was done.

Please also note that I removed the definition of Web Service as I believe it is well known now. Happy to hear dissenting opinions, including suggestions of a definition to use.

Thanks,
Joe

Joe,
Will you have an updated document to share with us tomorrow?

Also, I have a note that we were going to review the WSRP document, but can not find it in our documents files.  Can someone please send me a link?

Thanks!

Kathryn

Joe:
I find it correct, of course, but a little bit redundant :P
here we can find a lot of definition of WS that could help.

ivan

Objet : [regrep] "Registering Web Services in an ebXML Registry" TN - Definition of "Web Service" Still Good For Us?

I'm in the process of updating our March 2003 "Registering Web Services in an ebXML Registry" Technical Note for our V3.0 enhancements. Early on in the current version we have a definition of "Web Service" taken from the W3C Web Services Architecture, and I wonder if we still like it.

I know it does not mention CAM, but hey - we can't have everything, right?

Here is the current definition:

A Web service is “a software system identified by a URI whose public interfaces and bindings are defined and described using XML. Its definition can be discovered by other software systems. These systems may then interact with the Web service in a manner described by its definition, using XML based messages conveyed by Internet protocols.” [WSA].

Comments?

Thanks,
Joe
