Yes exactly - the list is illustrative not definitive - so I think what we want is something between these three:

 

general -discuss lists for ongoing exchange of ideas on topics of interest to the standards community;

specific -discuss lists that host 90-day dialogues vetting ideas and soliciting interest in forming new OASIS Committees;
-user lists to assist those adopting an OASIS Standard or specification;

I'd position it as

 

specific - discuss list that hosts 60-day dialogue vetting ideas and discussion for guiding existing OASIS committee work with feedback on possible new directions along with applicability of OASIS work to topics of interest - in this case application of registry technology for SOA;

 

So its not open ended - its specific - but with a more general audience spanning across work of several OASIS TCs.

the link you provided below is a discussion list for establishing a new TC. I don't think that is what you had in mind. Perhaps one of the other lists OASIS can set up would be better!  See: http://www.oasis-open.org/maillists/guidelines.php. Maybe we could request an interest list or general discussion list be set up for a short period of time.

There is one running right now that is proving super useful (well I say that because I've found it so!) ; -)

 

Any TC can ask OASIS to run a 60 day discussion list - you just need a topic.

The nice thing is that its completely open - so non-members can play - its an open sandbox - with less constraints.

 

I think we can position - 60 day discussion on supporting SOA Registry needs with OASIS standards.

 

Discuss would be focused on understanding the needs - providing the Reg/Rep team with feedback from community of SOA implementers on gap analysis.  Then we could produce a white paper on outcomes / understandings.
