Subject: Groups - Continue the ANSI/CEA-721 work in RCxml ? (hpnp10.zip) uploaded

The document named Continue the ANSI/CEA-721 work in RCxml ? (hpnp10.zip)
has been submitted by Mr. Hans Aanesen* to the OASIS Remote Control XML TC
document repository.

Document Description:
As discussed in the last meeting I suggest to proceed in OASIS RCxml TC the
enormous interoperability work done in the CEBus Industry Council CIC
www.cebus.org over the last 20 years. CIC started the abstraction
interoperability modeling ideas too early, but the XML world has done these
ideas more mature.
What is needed for true Service Oriented Architecture solutions is a top
level Super portal that interact and intergrate different processcontrol
systems nodes on a common based abstraction layer technique ( Web services
modelling). This abstraction modelling has been nicely done by Consumer
Electronic Bus (CEBus) Industry Council about 6 years ago.

NB ! It is only the abstraction modeling part of CEBus (CEA-600) defined as
Generic CAL"HomePnP"( CEA-721) that is of interest for OASIS RCxml TC.
CEA = Consumer Electronic Association
CAL = Common Aplication Language (a kind of scripting language)

CEA has been authorized by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
to create standards for networks that interconnect home components and
applications. The Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association (CEMA), a
sector of the CEA, predicts new market opportunities for consumer products
with enhanced functionality and interoperability made feasible and
economical by a common communications infrastructure in the home."

Attached is the CEA-721 node modeling Specification ver 1.0 (HomePnP) with
modeling examples and a slideshow illustrating my conversion idea.

The CIC lost the interoperability issues when some companies started to
dominate the further work with their proprietary integration technology.
Never the less the work of the abstraction interoperability modeling part
and methodology done could be of significant value for the RCxml TC work.

CIC has by help of following companies, individuals, and organizations
contributed to the development of CEA-721 CAL-based Interoperability for
