Subject: Extensions to the interop scenario and progress being made (was RE:[saml-dev] saml interop participation)

Title: Message
CrossLogix proposed, in writing, an extension to include authz decision assertions in the interop; however, there was very little response to that scenario. We feel that the interop should show more than just the browser artifact. We also do not want to demonstrate this alone, as that would be counter to the goal of the interop. We need a vocal consensus on whether companies are supportive of extending the scenario to include authorization as long as it is used to show interoperability between different vendors. With this support we can refine the proposal with your suggestions and I hope other vendors will step forward and agree to interoperate as consumer, producers or both of authz decisions. CrossLogix is committed to doing both.

There was a question raised before of are we getting everything out of this event that SAML needs in order to promote it as a success and have those outside the SAML community invest in supporting the standard? Based on discussions, the slow progress we are making in organizing for this event, and the directions that some of the participants are going in that take this outside the scope of browser artifact, I would say no. However, that is something for the group as a whole to decide and I'd hope to see more proposals of how to accomplish this from the participants.

Simon,

Please note that at this point the demo consists only to the
web browser artifact profile as described in the interop scenarios document.
Extensions are being discussed but there is no clear consensus on (1) the
exact scenario (2) companies who will interoperate in these extensions.
