[saml-dev] assertion artifact

Can someone please tell me whether the 'AssertionArtifact' string value in a
SAML artifact request is:

1. the base64 encoded 20 byte AssertionHandle or
2. the base64 endoded 42 byte SAML_artifact added as a URL parameter to the
redirect URL which redirects the browser to the assertion  consumer site.
