Subject: Re: [saml-dev] HTTP Artifact Binding

Thanks Tom / Scott for the pointers.

My doubt essentially is even if SAML does not talk of a WSDL separately however, the specs show examples of SOAP messages - and there will be many entities trying to use SOAP binding for artifact resolution.

If there is no standard WSDL, then there is a possibility of different IdPs / SPs naming the webservice methods differently, using different namespaces and so on. This means that people attempting to implement Artifact Resolution using webservices (SOAP) may not have it interoperable with each other.

Let me know if I am missing something.

Thanks,
Siddhartha

In addition to what Tom pointed to, I would note that there is nothing in
SAML regarding the use of WSDL, so whatever you mean by "there could be
different...", there isn't. The XSD along with the prose constraints in the
standard is what defines the protocol.
