Subject: Re: Fw: [sca-bindings] 15-day Committee Specification Draft ReviewRequest for Service Component Architecture JMS Binding Specification Version1.1

Simon,

I hope this restatement makes it easier for you or the TC to provide
clarification on the status of the "JMS XML Binding Schema", but
I am not able to determine whether it is truly a "part of" the
SCA JMS Binding Specification Version 1.1, since the apparent
URI identifies the resource as part of a Work Product produced
by the SCA Assembly TC.

Restatement of question about the status of the "JMS XML Binding Schema"
as part of the public review announcement for 'Service Component Architecture
JMS Binding Specification Version 1.1' (csprd03)

1. The question arose because in the preceding public review of this
    JMS Binding specification,
    http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/201006/msg00001.html
the announcement identified the JMS XML Binding Schema as part of
    the review:
"The schema files are available at:
    Schema:
    http://docs.oasis-open.org/opencsa/sca-assembly/sca-binding-jms-1.1-cd04.xsd

2. It seemed (to me) odd that a schema apparently developed by the
SCA-Assembly TC would be referenced as part of the review for the
work product of the SCA-Bindings TC, but OK.... for now... move on...

3. On analogy, if the 'csprd03' public review announcement is to make
comparable reference to the machine-readable file for the
JMS XML Binding Schema (sca-binding-jms-1.1.xsd), the proper
    URI would be:
    http://docs.oasis-open.org/opencsa/sca-assembly/sca-binding-jms-1.1-csd05.xsd

4. That file was published on 03-Nov-2010 16:45, apparently as a product
    of the SCA-Assembly TC
    sca-binding-jms-1.1-csd05.xsd 03-Nov-2010 16:45

5. So we could just ignore the "JMS XML Binding Schema" machine
readable file as part of the 'csprd03' public review announcement,
but it seems that the latest published instance of the "Service
Component Architecture Assembly Model Specification Version 1.1"
(at Committee Draft 06, 10 August 2010) punts to the "SCA JMS
Binding Specification" as the source for the schema file

    http://docs.oasis-open.org/opencsa/sca-assembly/sca-assembly-1.1-spec-cd06.html#_Toc270599635
      (in Appendix A.9)

    "A.9 sca-binding-jms.xsd
Is described in the SCA JMS Binding specification [SCA-JMSBINDING]"

      which says:

    "[SCA-JMSBINDING ]
OASIS Committee Draft 04, "SCA JMS Binding Specification
    Version 1.1 Version 1.1", May 2010
    http://docs.oasis-open.org/opencsa/sca-bindings/sca-jmsbinding-1.1-spec.pdf "

6. In other words, it's difficult for me to determine whether the
"JMS XML Binding Schema" is properly a "part of" the
Assembly Model Specification or part of the JMS Binding Specification

7. I'm sure the difficulty lies in my failure to appreciate how the
different specs align and cross-reference each other, but in terms
of "part-whole" relations, I need to understand whether the
"JMS XML Binding Schema" is defined canonically and normatively
as "part of" one or the other specification. That declaration would
have implications as to where and when the Schema (now
    apparently at:
    http://docs.oasis-open.org/opencsa/sca-assembly/sca-binding-jms-1.1-csd05.xsd )
would be part of public review.

Sorry for my confusion here.

- Robin

===== Other data:

Snippets from the SCA JMS Binding Specification csprd03

- "The binding.jms element MUST conform to the XML schema defined in
    sca-binding-jms-1.1.xsd [BJM30036]."
- 3.1 Extensibility: The JMS binding allows further customization of
the binding element and its subelements with vendor specific
attributes or elements. This is done by providing extension points
in the schema; refer to Appendix A, 'JMS XML Binding Schema:
sca-binding-jms-1.1.xsd' for the locations of these extension
    points.
