Subject: Artifacts and Resources

I believe there are two distinct concepts covered in the definitions presented for artifact and resource and that we need two distinct terms. An artifact is not a resource and a resource is not an artifact. Artifacts are used in the performance of a lifecycle operation on one or more resources. I believe target environments are just one particular category of resources. I would like to see the artifact definition change to replace target environment with resource, like this:

=>An artifact consists of one or more files or other pieces of metadata
that aid in the execution of lifecycle operations on one or more resources.

A resource is the target of the lifecycle operation. It is what exists after an operation completes. I think the definition is fine as written.

Terms that probably still need work:

Artifact => is an artifact a resource?
=>An artifact consists of one or more files or other pieces of metadata
that aid in the execution of lifecycle operations on one or more target
environments.

Resource => is a resource an artifact?
=>A defined element of a computing environment, such as an operating
system, a web server, a software application, or a complex solution.

Payload => do we need it in the glossary?
=> not currently defined

Deployment Lifecycle => are we using this consistently?
=>The stages marking maturation of a solution; Develop, package, integrate,
manufacture, install, configure, evaluate, deploy into production, upgrade
and/or update, uninstall.
