SDD TC,
Just to amplify the meeting minutes
and highlights from Julia (thanks, Julia!):
We have made good progress the past
few weeks closing on many "enablers" for the specification (writers
conventions, glossary, ACS convergence, etc.), as well as largely closing
on section 2 of the specification itself. I think we all share the desire
to accelerate the specification's completion. Hence, we determined today
that an appropriate way to do that would be to hold two face-to-face meetings
this year. Julia has committed to produce the specification content so
that we can raise issues and get those resolved not only in our weekly
calls but primarily in the in-person meeting, targeted for September. We
hope that this will get us a long way toward a complete specification,
so that we can pretty much wrap it up at an in-person meeting in December.
To do this, we'll need everyone to keep
up in reviewing the new specification drafts as Julia produces them. Also,
when you comment on the specification, please e-mail the TC and form your
comments such that they can be directly recorded as issues in our issue
tracking spreadsheet.
In addition, to support this effort,
we need to:
- Complete the examples that help to flesh
out the specification
- Address all of the unmet requirements
(including compliance levels and others) with proposals. We'll need an
owner to produce a proposal (which might be to leave the requiement unaddressed)
for each of these. We'll discuss this in next week's call.
I am excited about this plan that enables
us to see the light at the end of the tunnel for producing the specification.
It ought not to require a tremendous amount of additional work from anyone,
but rather just regular participation and attention to process and detail.
We plan to institute a ballot to determine
the specific time and place for the in-person meetings. If anyone would
like to volunteer to host one or both of the meetings, that would be welcome.
Please be sure to review today's minutes,
the specification, the specification issues and unmet requirements.
Thank you.
Regards,
Brent
