Subject: Julia's Comments

Ms. Julia McCarthy added the following comment to the profileDocs.zip document in the OASIS Solution Deployment Descriptor (SDD) TC Group.

(I can provide these comments in a word doc if the formatting doesn't come through well enough in this comment field.)

I would like to see this document discuss the following topics:
	Certain fields in the SDD have values that must be defined somewhere
o	explain why
o	the profile is the place
o	identify the specific fields
o	identify how specific fields are associated with specific profile values. (e.g. you wouldnt use an operating system type in a property name field; you wouldnt use a property name in a property value field; etc.)
	The starter profile has a limited set of values
o	covers values used in the SDD examples
o	many SDDs will require additional values
	How are profiles used and extended
o	Explain how to extend a profile
o	Explain what it means for an SDD author to extend a profile vs. what it means for an implementation to extend a profile
o	Explain how profiles required by an SDD are associated with profiles supported by an implementation
o	Explain how to deal with a requirement on specific values of software properties, e.g. the concurrency setting of DB2; the port number of a particular web application; etc.

(This doc needs an editor to do things like find nits like the place where constitute should be constitutes, etc.)
