Subject: Fw: [sdd] [OASIS Issue Tracker] Created: (SDD-18) AdditionalContentTypespecification clarification

SDD TC,

You might see a bunch of e-mail similar to this one. Now that we all have
Jira accounts, I went back to all of the issues and assigned them to their
respective owners. Merri, you got any "specification only" issues; other
issues were assigned to the person who raised it or the person who has
already agreed to pursue it.

PLEASE NOTE that some of the issue are already closed, having already been
completed (I entered all of the v1.1 issues, even if we had already
completed them). So you might see a notice about an issue assigned to you
that you've already completed; don't worry, that issue has a "Closed"
status in the Jira tool.

If anyone disagrees with any of the issue assignments or notices other
errors in any of the information in Jira, please fix it or let me know and
I'll do so.

Thanks.

[sdd] [OASIS Issue Tracker] Created: (SDD-18) AdditionalContentType
specification clarification

AdditionalContentType specification clarification
--------------------------------------------------

                 Key: SDD-18
                 URL: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/SDD-18
Project: OASIS Solution Deployment Descriptor (SDD) TC
          Issue Type: Improvement
         Environment: Specification
            Reporter: Brent Miller
            Assignee: Merri Jensen
            Priority: Minor

Jason raised a question about how an SDD author expresses what should be
"done" with AdditionalContent elements. For example, should a BAT file
undergo variable substitution by the SDD runtime, or should it also be
executed by the SDD runtime?

After discussion, it was concluded that any content referenced in
additionalcontent is content that is being made available to the artifact.
In the example, one would make the BAT file the artifact and the ZIP file
the additional content. In this way, it is clear that the runtime always
executes artifacts and the usage pattern is that additional content is
used by the artifact but additional content is not executed by the
runtime.

It was also concluded that this is not clear in the specification and
warrants a discussion about whether the specification should be updated.

(In addition, for v1.1 we may want to add a URI attribute to additional
content (use=optional) so that the artifact can reference the additional
content via that path. Until then, we are going to assume that the
artifact and additional content are in the same location. Jason will
consider a proposal for this change and if pursued, this will be done in a
separate issue/item).
