I like the newer new. However,
the change is enough that I feel that we would have to rev all images in
the spec

It's subtle admittedly, but if you look closely you'll
see the outline in the "newer new" does differ between the optional
versus required. The optional do not have a solid black line border
and instead have a gray border. The required do have a solid black
border.
Once I became used to looking at the new images this way, I like the newer
images better because I still was able to get the info the dotted lines
conveyed on the older image and I do like the better distinction between
attributes and elements.
Thus my vote is for the "newer new" ... plus they're pretty ...
:-)

My initial observations:
I don't see any substantial difference between "old" and "older
new", so
I would claim that if we chose "older new" for all the new
additions/changes to the specification, that these would be "consistent
enough" without changing all the existing diagrams.
The "newer new" sure is pretty, and I like how it explicitly
adds the type
of the property, and how it more explicitly shows attributes vs. elements.
However, for me, this one doesn't show "optional" as explicitly
as the old
or "older new" -- these latter ones use dotted lines, which is
more
obvious to me than the "0 .. <infinity>", which does provide
the
information but in a less obvious way, in my opinion.
So to me, the question is whether or not the "newer new" provides
enough
additional value (not just color and other aesthetics) to justify changing
all of the existing diagrams. At the moment, I don't have a strong opinion
either way.
What do others think?
Thanks, Merri.

Ms. Merri Jensen added the following comment to the Image_Choices.docx
document in the OASIS Solution Deployment Descriptor (SDD) TC Group.
Sorry for the mixup. I believe that the newest version has all the
images
in it.
