Subject: SDD Update

Greetings SDD TC and a belated Happy New Year!

I wanted to update the TC on the status of SDD v2.0.

We have two significant initiatives in progress: the approval process to take the specification and schema to the approved OASIS Standard v2.0; and updating and approving the non-standards-track work products (the informative documents that accompany the specification -- namely the Primer, Starter Profile and Examples).

For the standards process (specification and schema), we have completed the first public review and we are ready to take the next step to vote on approving the specification and schema as a Committee Specification.

For the non-standards-track work products, we have completed the necessary updates to the v1 documents to produce the v2 content but we need to convert these to the new OASIS template/format. This has been done for the Primer and we are working with the OASIS TC Administrator to complete the remaining two. When these have been converted, we will vote on approving these as Committee Note Drafts.

As you might have seen, the long-time OASIS TC Administrator, Mary McRae, has moved on and Robin Cover is acting as the interim TC administrator. He has a large backlog of work to catch up on, but I have been in contact with him and he will be working with us to catch us back up so that we can proceed as outlined above.

I expect that we'll be moving forward to complete our v2 deliverables soon, so please watch for additional communications. I do not believe that we need to resume regular teleconferences, although if anyone would like to have a call to discuss anything, please let me know and I'll get something scheduled.

Thanks for your continued participation -- I think we have the v2 end in sight now.

Regards,
Brent
