Digital ID World Announces 2003 Identity Industry Award Recipients, Completion of Sold-Out Conference and Launch of First Industry Magazine

Denver, Colo., November 11, 2003 - Digital ID World, the premier digital identity industry magazine, conference and community website, today announced the recipients of the 2003 Digital ID World Industry Awards for Balancing Innovation and Reality in the emerging field of digital identity. The awards were presented to:

·         Robert Kahn, widely recognized as a "father of the internet" for his role in developing DARPA's Internet Program and as co-inventor of the TCP/IP protocol, received the Digital ID World 2003 award from Esther Dyson for his work and participation in the development of the Digital Object Architecture (www.handle.net). The Digital Object Architecture is increasingly recognized as a possible solution for establishing an "internet of things."

·         Robert Philpott, co-chair of the OASIS SAML Technical Committee, accepted the Digital ID World 2003 award from Jamie Lewis, CEO and Research Chair of Burton Group, on behalf of the OASIS SAML Technical Committee for their work and development of the Security Assertion Markup Language ("SAML"). SAML is widely recognized as one of the leading technical specifications for enabling security between companies through the sharing of identity assertions. For more information on SAML, visit http://www.oasis-open.org.

·         Peter Biddle, Group Product Manager for Microsoft's Next Generation Secure Computing Base (formerly known as "Palladium"), accepted the Digital ID World 2003 award from Phil Becker, Editor-in-Chief of Digital ID World, for his work within Microsoft on their trusted computing initiatives, which are serving as one of the core foundations for the build out of Microsoft's Longhorn initiative. For additional information on NGSCB, visit Microsoft's website at: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/ngscb.

Digital ID World award recipients are selected by the Digital ID World Executive Advisory Committee, which includes Esther Dyson of EDventure, Inc, Jamie Lewis of Burton Group, Dave Chen of OVP Venture Partners and Doc Searls of Linux Journal.

Regarding the importance of digital identity and the Digital ID World conference, Tony Scott, CTO of General Motors IS&S, stated, "Digital identity is one of the fundamental building blocks for the next generation of information systems, and Digital ID World is the premier event to learn about next generation digital identity technologies, as well as practical approaches to solving everyday digital identity problems."

Phil Becker, Editor in Chief of Digital ID World commented, "With the Digital ID World Industry Awards, we set out to recognize individuals and companies that are overcoming significant hurdles across the digital identity landscape -- and balancing true innovation with the reality of today's marketplace needs."

Microsoft added: "We are honored that NGSCB has been recognized for Balancing Innovation and Reality by the executive advisory committee of Digital ID World," said John Manferdelli, general manager Microsoft Windows Trusted Platform and Infrastructures. "We are building NGSCB in collaboration with other industry leaders to enable a new class of security solutions, and we are pleased to accept this award on behalf of the many companies, organizations, and individuals working to help realize the vision of trustworthy computing."

The Digital ID World awards ceremony took place amidst a sold-out conference held in Denver, CO on October 15th through the 17th. The conference was attended by the world's leading thinkers, industry luminaries, and CEO's of fortune 1000 companies.

In conjunction with the 2003 conference, Digital ID World also launched the first industry magazine focused exclusively on digital identity. The first bi-monthly issue reached over 15,000 decision makers within US and Canadian Fortune 1000 corporations. Individuals and advertisers may subscribe at www.digitalidworld.com/magazine.

As a result of this year's sold-out conference, Phil Becker added, "We're pleased to announce that this year's conference growth has required that we move our 2004 conference to a venue accommodating of a larger audience. Accordingly, Digital ID World 2004 will take place in San Francisco, California in October of next year."
