Colleagues, We have received the following submission of materials from the Liberty Alliance. The submission document, as received, is appended to this message. These rules may be found at: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/guidelines.php#contributedwork In particular, rules governing IPR of submissions may be found in Section OASIS.IPR.3.1 of: http://www.oasis-open.org/who/intellectualproperty.php Please note that the TC is obliged to accept any submission that conforms to OASIS rules. However, the precise role of any submission in the specification drafts created by the TC is governed by the actions of the TC members and of the TC as a whole. Prateek & Rob SSTC Co-Chairs -----Original Message----- From: ROUAULT,JASON (HP-FtCollins,ex1) [mailto:jason.rouault@hp.com] Sent: Monday, February 02, 2004 1:40 PM To: 'security-services@lists.oasis-open.org' Cc: 'Frederick.Hirsch@nokia.com'; 'Jeff Hodges'; ROUAULT,JASON (HP-FtCollins,ex1); Philpott, Robert; 'Mishra, Prateek' Subject: RE: Liberty ID-FF 1.2 Contribution to SSTC To: OASIS Security Services Technical Committee From: Jason Rouault, HP Jeff Hodges, Sun Rob Philpott, RSA Security Frederick Hirsch, Nokia As members of the OASIS SSTC, we would like to submit the Liberty Alliance Trust Models Guidelines Specification ("TMGS", further identified below in [1]) for consideration in preparing future versions of SAML. This document provides non-normative guidance for implementors and deployers on establishing trust, and is a "supporting document" for ID-FF 1.2. The Liberty Alliance Board, which is the steward for Liberty Alliance Final Specifications, has approved a motion to enable further development of the Liberty Trust Models Guidelines Specification under the auspices of the SSTC. We believe it is in the best interests of the industry to converge this document, and otherwise resolve any issues, with future SAML versions. Copyright in the Liberty Trust Models Guidelines is held jointly by the Liberty Alliance member companies identified in the document copyright statements. Based on the Liberty Alliance Agreements and the board approval, at least one of our companies hereby grants OASIS the copyright license needed to prepare derivative works, among other activities, as required by the OASIS IPR Policy, section 3.1(1). We believe that all of the necessary conditions for a proper Contribution as shown in the IPR Policy section 3.1 are met. While the "Notice" portion of the Trust Models Guidelines Specification indicates that no rights are granted to prepare derivative works, this letter acts as the necessary license for OASIS to prepare derivative works. Our Liberty Alliance Membership Agreements also provide for Liberty Alliance members to grant patent licenses to all parties under at least fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory terms, if such licenses are required to implement the final Liberty Alliance specifications. Further information on specific disclosures which may have been made by Liberty Alliance members is located on the Liberty Alliance web site [2]. Please let us know if there are any concerns or questions about this submission. Thank you.
