Subject: [Fwd: [xml-dev] XML and Versioning]
Of possible interest to the XML-heads among us. Some changes ("weak wildcards") are being considered by W3C that would ease some of the annoying problems associated with preparing for XSD extensibility that we (and Liberty) have experienced. Eve -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [xml-dev] XML and Versioning Date: Fri, 06 Aug 2004 09:21:37 -0500 From: Bullard, Claude L (Len) <len.bullard@intergraph.com> To: xml-dev@lists.xml.org Noah Mendelsohn posted the following to the www-tag list. http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-tag/2004Aug/0004.html The discussion in the attachment to this email takes up the particularly difficult problem of versioning in XML Schemas. Versioning is a tough problem for any evolving system as a version of a schema is analogous to an allele in a biological system. If any of you have time to review Noah's submission, it is an excellent thread topic to expose to a wider audience. len ----------------------------------------------------------------- The xml-dev list is sponsored by XML.org <http://www.xml.org>, an initiative of OASIS <http://www.oasis-open.org> The list archives are at http://lists.xml.org/archives/xml-dev/ To subscribe or unsubscribe from this list use the subscription manager: <http://www.oasis-open.org/mlmanage/index.php> -- Eve Maler +1 781 442 3190 Sun Microsystems cell +1 781 354 9441 Web Products, Technologies, and Standards eve.maler @ sun.com
