minimum number of messaging patterns

We had a long discussion eons ago about what messaging patterns to include and decided that the minimum was two: one-way and request-response.

In doing some background work for a new MITRE course, I ran across the Axis2 architecture guide and, lo and behold, they came to the same conclusion.  See http://ws.apache.org/axis2/1_0/Axis2ArchitectureGuide.html#bmClientAPI.

This may be old news now but I thought I'd pass it along.
