Subject: Comments on specification

This note uses line numbers from the snapshot as of 10/26/2010.

General. There is substantial difference in style and rigor in different sections of the spec. This can lead to confusion: is this an actionable architecture, or is it a large white paper.

I have not had the patience to do a line-by-line analysis. This is simply a 'first cut' at re-identifying areas that need work.

I start in S4, as S4 and S5 have not had much attention.

Line 1914 through 2053. These sections contain a great deal of material that is not about description, but is about other matters (including a definition of "service level real world effect"). This material should either be deleted, or integrated appropriately; it does not belong in a section on description.

Line 2100 through 2113 Contains conformance statements. All conformance statements MUST be in separate conformance clauses.

LIne 2115 through 2148 Material not directly appropriate to descriptions.

Line 2150 through 2273 Essay material, should be moved to a white paper.

Line 2684 Missing definition: message

Line 2727 Missing definition: message exchange pattern

Line 3004 through 3143 Some redundancy with S3. Needs more elaboration.

Line 3494 through 3646 Essay material, should be moved to white paper.

Line 3706 through 3984 (Security) Not at all clear that this section contributes to the architecture.

Line 4183 through 4779 (Testing) This is written in essay style, not as an architecture. It IS a white paper.
