Subject: 11-17-2010 Section 3 Issues and Suggested Edits
Hi Everyone, While I wasn't able to go through all of Ken's terms to check for consistency, and discovered my own unincluded requested edits, I have put together my best shot at checking consistency and offering suggested edits instead of simply saying that something needed to be corrected, changed, deleted, etc. I found things I thought we had already reached consensus on changing or deleting but since I do support the effort to wind this up, I'll have to live with the things I haven't had the time to double check. Therefore, I only included the things I was able to check and think through and test. I asked some questions of other colleagues to make sure I wasn't making unfounded allegations about the extent to which our audience is at least aware of some terms and concepts. My main difficulty is that there are concepts from the overlapping areas of philosophy and linguistics, namely Speech Act Theory, which our audience will not be familiar with and which are likely to adversely affect the uptake of our work. While some parts of our audience, specifically the DODaF Metamodel effort, where there is some active study and willingness to take on the difficult task of establishing an ontological representation of the models they are developing and refining, they too are a long way from being aware of and willing to take on the more difficult and arguably less applicable material in our document. Cheers, Rex
