Subject: Re: [soa-rm] leading SOA conferences?
Hi Ken, Since we're in OASIS, I'll eliminate the upcoming OASIS Symposium. However if it is included it would make beggar's choice of the last paragraph unnecessary. Since I only had two others off the top of my head, and they happen to be events where I've either attended and presented or attended, that makes for a limited selection, so I googled SOA Conferences and looked at the upcoming conferences and decided these were the typical dog and pony sales promos dressed up as conferences, which means what? Business as usual. All of my choices come with the same caveat: I don't care much about recognition (could explain a number of issues!), so I wouldn't know it if it came up and bit me. So I have to stay with the ones I've attended and/or presented though both have serious shortcomings: the SOA for E-Government series (next one where I will probably be presenting is April-May 2008) and the Semantic Technologies Conference that's been held in the same timeframe in San Jose (Semantic SOA track), but all the rest seem not to understand what a train wreck they're building when they don't tackle Semantic Interoperability. For a third choice, it seems like a 1950s Chinese Restaurant, choose one from the Microsoft column (e.g. http://soaconferences.net ) or one from rest, SOAWorld-in SF in November http://www.soaworld2007.com/ , BrainStorm (BrainFarts?) in New York also in Nov. http://www.soainstitute.org/events/nyc-soa.html , and since I prefer using Modeling tools, I would choose something with a decent BPMN track (BrainStorm). The problem with most, as far as I'm concerned is that they're all looking for lock-in. Hey a really stupid movie title: Desperately Looking for Lock-In.
