Subject: Fwd: [soa-rm] Groups - Draft Minutes-SOA-RM TC Mtg, 27 May 2015.doc uploaded
William, The following are conclusions from the last SOA-RM meeting that hopefully clarifies what should be reflected in the modeling.
“Objects” vs. “processes” and “contracts” vs.
“policies”: the TC discussed the short
paper provided by Michael since the last meeting, and comments on the paper by
Martin and Ken. Rex observed that the RM
refers to “artifacts” rather than “objects.” Ken extracted some conclusions
from the discussion: (1) an “artifact” is a thing, whereas a “process” is how a
thing gets created or used; (2) “policies” ought to be located in a service’s
“description”; a service “description” seems to represent what is called a
“public offer” in legal terminology. On rereading, the thing I’d change is “how a thing gets created[, maintained,] or used”, where I’d add the [ ]. Ken ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
