Subject: RE: [tag] meeting minutes: 24 October 2012
Thanks for providing this. I didn't put the meeting on my calendar and then I was away from my computer at the time of the call. From now on I will put meetings on my calendar as soon as they are scheduled. - Dennis -----Original Message----- From: tag@lists.oasis-open.org [mailto:tag@lists.oasis-open.org] On Behalf Of Jacques Durand Sent: Wednesday, October 24, 2012 16:23 To: tag@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: [tag] meeting minutes: 24 October 2012 Test Assertions Guidelines (TAG) TC Teleconference Meeting Date: Wednesday, 24 October 2012, 2 pm (PDT). TA Model as an OASIS STANDARD Congratulations to the team - a big achievement for a small TC ! 17% of members approved (min 15%). Next Steps: we'll talk more extensively about options at a next meeting (tentative Nov 13 same hour) with more attendance. Basically, options are: TA model: either (a) keep it OASIS std, just promote and maintain, (b) move it as ISO standard. Need to look at additional requirements for (b). - there is also features mentioned by Stephen G. in public review. To discuss. TA markup: (a) keep it as is, and possibly move it up to OASIS std too (but would need more "Statements of Use") (b) upgrade the CS to represent not just XML, but also other emerging formats (e.g. JSON format and also a text format such as YAML.) In which case this means reworking it as a draft then back to CS. - Kevin of the opinion that there is no rush to progess the TA markup to standard - better get it mature first. OK with adding formats. - Jacques: there is less pressure to get TA markup as OASIS std, now that we have the model (the foundation) as std. 3. Evolving the TA GUIDELINES Committee Note - Kevin: we still have the broken ref bug to fix. - Jacques: options are (a) just fix this bug and rework a new CN over time, (b) upgrade the TA guidelines based on comments received by users/reviewers. In particular: o partial testability (leading to "negative" testing etc.) See comments from Stephen Green, and proposal from Jacques ( https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tag-comment/201208/msg00002.html ) o more "testable" wordings of a normative source (emphasize this as a form of "interpretation" of the NSource and illustrate this better.) Some users were asking for guidance on how to express the Normative Source in a way that is helpful for testers (not just repeating the spec requirement). - ageement all these upgrades could be packaged as the next CN version for TA Guidelines. - Jacques: if the TC agrees to work on that, then we would shoot for spring/summer 2013 for a next CN. 4. FUTURE MEETINGS Average 1/month. Tentative : Tuesday November 13, to be verified with other members. Jacques Durand, on behalf of: - Dennis E. Hamilton TAG TC Secretary
