Subject: RE: Tax XML TC Meeting - Hotel Reservations (Problem Fixed)
The hotel says it was their fault – system glitch – and that there is room at the inn. She has fixed the problem and apologizes for the inconvenience. To book your room, please call her directly ->

I just called and they told me the block was full. They also said the Federal government rate was full but that they could put me at the Monticello a block away at the Federal Government rate of $140/night.

Importance: High
Today is the last day to book a hotel room at the group rate of $130/night. This is a very good price for San Francisco. If you think you may be attending, I suggest you book the room today and then cancel if you can’t come. (Rooms in this area normally go for $210+/night).

Let me add briefly that the IRS (that’s me) is hosting this meeting. As the hosting organization, we are welcome to invite internal employees to come to the meeting, which normally are not open to non-members. The topics being discussed at this meeting will be helpful, useful, and interesting to you all. Time is getting short to reserve a room at the hotel and get the gov rate we’ve been promised. So, despite the short notice, I hope you can convince all the right people in your management chains to let you come – reservations need to be made by next Tuesday, September 12.
Representatives from other country tax administrations will be present at the meeting. This is an excellent place to talk about their use of XML, XBRL, and other electronic tax initiatives. I hope you can join us. Below is the hotel contact info to make your reservation…
The block of rooms is held as "IRS/OASIS Tax XML meeting." Please refer to this name when you make your room reservation, which can be made via email at reservations@villaflorence.com or call 800-553-4411.

Susan Smoter asked me to forward the following information about the OASIS Tax XML Technical Committee meeting, Oct. 3-5 in San Francisco. Since XBRL will be an agenda item, it would be great if we could have some of our folks attend.

As the Co-Chair of the OASIS Tax XML technical committee, I wanted to inform you that the IRS is hosting the committee’s next Face-to-Face meeting, which will be held in San Francisco on October 3-5. We are meeting on the west coast to enable attendees from Australia and New Zealand to more easily attend. I wanted to give you advanced notice in case your schedule permitted you to attend.
Details are still being worked, but it looks like our venue will be the Villa Florence Hotel (http://www.villaflorence.com/) in the city. We will start the meeting at 8:30 on Tuesday, work a full day on Wednesday (breaking at mid-day for a boat tour, resuming the meeting after dinner), and finishing at noon on Thursday.
Topics for the meeting are also still being prepared, however we definitely will cover at a minimum these areas:
· Work of the three subcommittees
o Certificate of Residence - the use of the CIQ customer identification standard, advancing the prototype with other jurisdictions
o XBRL
o Indirect Taxation
· Tax administration updates (US, Canada, Netherlands, UK, ATO, and possibly New Zealand and Germany)
· Status on the special OECD project on Wage Taxation
I will send you further updates and the meeting agenda as the date draws near. Please let me know if you are interested in attending as I’m gathering numbers for the meeting planners.
