Subject: [Fwd: [tc-announce] CPPA voting - negative votes]
OASIS XACML TC: This is to officially inform you that voting to approve the XACML Committee Specification as an OASIS Standard has ended, and that sufficient affirmative votes have been received to approve the spec. However, there were also two negative votes, with comments. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-voting/200301/msg00004.html http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-voting/200301/msg00048.html There are not sufficient negative votes to turn down the approval, but because there are negative votes the TC must now make a decision on what to do next. For the process for handling these negative votes see Section 2 of the OASIS TC Process at http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/process.shtml#approval_standard "If at the end of the voting period at least 10 percent of the voting membership has voted to approve the proposed standard, then if no votes have been cast to disapprove the proposed standard, it shall become an OASIS Standard immediately following the end of the voting period. However, if negative votes amounting to less than 10 percent of the voting membership have been cast, the TC will be notified of the negative votes, after which the TC shall have 30 days to take one of the following actions by resolution: (a) request OASIS TC Administration to approve the specification as submitted despite the negative votes; (b) withdraw the submission entirely; or (c) submit an amended specification, in which case the amended submission shall be considered as if it were a new submission, except that information regarding previous votes and any disposition of comments received in previous votes shall accompany the amended submission." The TC now has 30 days to notify OASIS what you would like to do: request that the spec be approved despite the negative votes, withdraw the spec, or withdraw it and submit a new spec later. I will await your decision. -Karl ================================================================= Karl F.
