Subject: RE: [tgf] RE: TGF POLICY PRODUCTS - WIKI
Just to be clear, are we saying there should be some fairly stable examples of the matrix entries in the hard copy but the full list is maintained on the Wiki? I’ll look into what printing facilities the Wiki has. If we can provide a full print-out report that might overcome some of the luddite problems. John From: Colin Wallis [mailto:Colin.Wallis@dia.govt.nz] Agreeing with Nig here regards the casual ‘hard copy’ reader and giving the sense of what the wiki might contain... I don’t know about your respective jurisdictions, but down here, there are still senior managers in non IT positions who are very ‘80’s in their use of ICT J So their PAs will access whatever they need and print it out into hard copy for meetings, typically held in rooms that have no ‘net access, Just another example of the ‘gulf’ that is the civil service of the 21st century.... J From: tgf@lists.oasis-open.org [mailto:tgf@lists.oasis-open.org] On Behalf Of Greenaway Nigel Hi John, I think that table entries within the document that give an idea of the sort of entry in each cell would be of benefit to casual readers such as senior management to aid their understanding. Perhaps something similar to the original CSTransform matrix bur NOT referencing specific documents. That would mean that we would only need to worry about maintaining the online resource. If everyone agrees to go forward with this I’ll populate the remainder following the current review of the table entries by Andy/Peter/Joe/Oliver. John From: John Borras [mailto:johnaborras@yahoo.co.uk] I’ve revamped our TC Wiki to create a possible online resource for our list of Policy Products as previously discussed. Please take a look and let me know whether this fits the bill. http://wiki.oasis-open.org/tgf/FrontPage . You don’t need to login in to use the site but all TC members can access and edit any of the information after they have logged in. Just to remind everyone, we are looking at a means to keep the entries in the Matrix up to date and avoid having to re-publish the Committee Note document every time we make changes to the table entries, with all the approvals process and Public Reviews that entails. If this Wiki is a usable resource we avoid all that hassle and only have to agree revisions at each TC meeting and then I would update the Wiki. This does raise another question in my mind. If we introduce this Wiki, do we actually need to include the table entries in the document? We could just use the document to introduce the rationale, usage etc of the Policy Products, ie essentially just Section 1 of the current Working Draft, and refer to the Wiki for the latest entries. That way also we would minimize the number of times we have to revise that document. Thoughts/ views on any of this please, preferably before our next TC call, but I’ll included it on the agenda for us to make a decision. John
