Subject: RE: Testimonials on Transformational Government Framework

Brilliant thanks Carol.  Hopefully we’ll get a few more to add to these two testimonials.

John,
I created two new Announcements on the eGov MS site (see links on homepage), then I added the Testimonials section to the TGF TC homepage with abbreviated versions of the quotes and links to the full citation.

Look good?

Attached are the edited citations.  They may still be rather too long for putting on the TC homepage so please feel free to truncate them as you see fit.

We have other citations from TC members but these two are particular good as they have come from none OASIS members who have used the TGF in practice.

John,
I was hoping we could get a rotating quote box (like we have on the main OASIS site) on the TC page, but Kavi doesn't currently allow it. Scott's going to a Kavi user group meeting next week, and he'll see if there are any work-arounds.

The best I can do now is add a new section on the TC's homepage for "Testimonials" (maybe under the "Mailing lists" section).  Please send me the final quotes, and I'll take care of it.

You can also post each quote to appropriate LinkedIn Groups and the OASIS Facebook page, linking back to the Testimonials section of the TC page.

Great idea. I'm checking on our options (where Kavi will let us place this), and I'll get back to you.

Below is an excellent citation we have just received about the use of our TGF.  We are expecting to receive a few more like this and they will be used initially as part of our OASIS Standard approval request.  But I would like to maximise the publicity of these to help our marketing efforts.  Is there any precedent for posting such citations on TC websites or other outlets?  I don’t necessarily want to issue a press release but more to have them publically visible on a long-term basis.

Note when I publish it I would sanitise it so it doesn’t read quite so much as a citation of CS Transform but more about the TGF.

None at all John, delighted to - the work with CS Transform - particularly end-to-end benefits mapping, has been and continues to be hugely valuable to the British Council. Other public bodies would do well to consider it too in putting citizens and the creation of public value at the heart of entrepreneurial 21st century public service.

You can quote me that too.

John

Many thanks for this statement and for taking the time to post it to my committee.   I’m very glad the TGF has been of benefit to your organisation and that your usage has proved the value of the time and effort that Chris and the other members of my committee have put into developing the TGF.

I would like to make your statement publically available via our website, would you have any objections to that?

To whom it may concern

The purpose of this “statement of use” is to explain how the British Council has worked with consulting firm CS Transform Limited to deploy key elements of the Transformational Government Framework (TGF) in helping to shape and deliver our organisation’s strategy.  References to the TGF are to the TGF Pattern Language Core Patterns Version 1.0 Committee Specification 01 dated 11 January 2012.

The British Council is the UK’s International body for educational and cultural relations.  We are a £750 million plus turnover organisation, working with millions of people every year in six continents and over 100 countries to create international opportunities for the people of the UK and other countries and to build trust between them worldwide. We create opportunity by sharing English, education, the Arts, and helping to deliver on the UK’s commitment to International Development and sharing ways of living and organising society.

Over recent years, we have been going through a major programme of change, transitioning from a set of locally-driven and heterogeneous country strategies, to an integrated, organisation-wide strategy.  That strategy is focused on entrepreneurial growth – in both income earned and impact delivered – though in the face of declining grant funding from the UK government.

CS Transform Limited is a consulting firm appointed following competitive tender to a Strategic Consultancy Framework with the British Council, and through this framework we have contracted with CS Transform to deliver several strategic consulting assignments.  In delivering these assignments, CS Transform has deployed the TGF to help meet our needs.  For example:

  • CS Transform drew on TGF Core Pattern 8 (“Roadmap for Transformation”) when developing the British Council’s roadmap for transforming our global operations network
  • CS Transform used TGF Core Pattern 9 ( “Brand-led Service Delivery”) when advising the British Council on development of a brand-led approach to increasing the British Council’s profile and participation
  • CS Transform used the Benefits Mapping approach recommended by TGF Core Pattern 20 (“Benefits Realization”) to develop an overall benefit map showing how British Council inputs flow through to our programme outputs and ultimately to achievement of our strategic outcomes and organisational purpose.

This work has been of high quality and has made a significant strategic impact on our work.

Yours faithfully,

John Worne
