Subject: [xtm-wg] ISO 11179 attributes for XTM?
I've been rattling the loose bolts in my skull lately over the idea of defining the ISO 11179 attributes for XTM so that it can fit into a wider framework of metadata standards. This is obviously complicated by the fact that XTM (and of course ISO 13250) isn't simply a metadata standard. But I've never let reality stop me from thinking. Terry Allen based the original OASIS RegRep project on ISO 11179, and Dublin Core certainly is. A current Dublin Core I'm working on (an XTM- related project, actually) brought this idea to light. Anybody -- how difficult would this be? Sounds relatively trivial, and it could be an add-on DTD module, used only when needed (really only as a formalism to guide application developers in many cases, just as it is with Dublin Core).
