Subject: RE: [ubl-dev] Low level versioning
Jon, It keeps coming up because W3C schema cannot provide the complete solution stack for UBL needs - and hence implementers need strong open tools that support the CCTS and ebXML models to compliment and complete their UBL experience. Like UBL, CAM has been forged in the same crucible and most deliberately supports CCTS, BPSS, Registry, CPA and ebMS usage and the critical capabilities of role and context through XML-scripting. The CAM work is not solely intended for UBL alone however - but also compliments the rich range of ebXML work in OASIS along with support of other industry verticals use of XML. However - I am seeing the need here to develop UBL specific CAM templates to illustrate the use case of SBS. As time opens up from my other OASIS work over the next couple of months - I am looking forward to working with the UBL community on implementing these tools. Sometimes less formal arrangements are easier to brainstorm and experiment with than more rigid pre-determined ones - but of course once that phase has validated the approach then one can use the OASIS TC processes to formalize any work outputs that are mutually beneficial at that point. CAM and UBL are both the products of OASIS technical committees, but there is no other formal or organizational connection between them.
