TO OASIS Members, Public Announce Lists

The OASIS Universal Business Language (UBL) TC has recently approved the
following specification as a Committee Draft and approved the package for public
review:

     Universal Business Language v2.0

The public review starts today, 28 July 2006, and ends 12 August 2006. This
specification was previously submitted for a 60-day public review on 20
January, 2006[1]; the 15-day review is limited in scope to changes made from
the previous review. A spreadsheet documenting the changes made since the last
public review is provided in both OpenDocument and Microsoft Excel formats. This
is an open invitation to comment.

We strongly encourage feedback from potential users, developers and others,
whether OASIS members or not, for the sake of improving the interoperability and
quality of OASIS work.

More non-normative information about the specification and the technical
committee may be found at the public home page of the TC at
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=ubl. Comments may be
submitted to the TC by any person through the use of the OASIS TC Comment
Facility which can be located via the button marked "Send A Comment" at the top
of that page, or directly at
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/comments/index.php?wg_abbrev=ubl.

Submitted comments (for this work as well as other works of that TC) are
publicly archived and can be viewed at
http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ubl-comment/. All comments submitted to
OASIS are subject to the OASIS Feedback License, which ensures that the feedback
you provide carries the same obligations at least as the obligations of the TC
members.

version for review purposes.

OASIS and the UBL TC welcome your comments.

Sacha Schlegel of HavanaWave (formerly of Cyclone Commerce / Axway) recently
conducted a series of audio interviews with peer experts on ebXML (ISO 15000)
and UBL. The podcasts offer unique, accessible insight into the status and
history of ebXML, UBL, and related technologies advanced by OASIS and
UN/CEFACT. The interviews are available in MP3 and OGG formats.

Available podcasts include:

ebXML Overview
ebXML End Users
ebXML Happenings
ebXML Registry/Repository
ebXML Business Process
ebXML Collaboration Protocol Profile and Agreement
ebXML Messaging
ebXML SOA
Universal Business Language (UBL)
Universal Business Language Small Business Subset (UBL SBS)

An additional podcast on ebXML Core Components is coming soon.

**OASIS TC chairs may wish to add a podcast link from their TC public homepages
(under "External Resources").

Thanks to Sacha and to all those who participated in the interviews.

Following approval by the UBL TC, I am pleased to publish the agreed
action plan for future collaboration with UN/CEFACT permanent groups.

We intend that UN/CEFACT will take this plan and supplement their own
resources and schedules against the various tasks. A copy of this
enhanced plan will then be re-distributed to this list. Following this
we would expect to assist each project group in organizing its own
communication channels and working schedules.

Note that only two tasks require attention in the short term. Both the
CCTS compliance and ICG/ATG2 code list methodology would benefit from
some attention in the next few weeks. Having said that, any team able
to accelerate this schedule is perfectly welcome to do so.
