Subject: Re: [ubl] Next Version
Jon wrote: What do we think about calling the next release "UBL 2.0" rather than "UBL 1.1" My comment - the process around a minor version release put restrictions on the changes that could be done to the existing messages. A major version release would have allowed for more flexibility - meaning that the messages would not necessarily have to be backwards compatible. I look forward to the opportunity to influence a major version release and I believe that we need more practical experience with the 1.0 family. This experience will provide valuable input to a new major release. UBL is gaining momentum in the Scandinavian countries. We have invited the "Nordic network for e-Business" to a workshop in order to align our technical infrastructure and coordinate our adoption milestones of UBL. The UBL TC works with admirable speed but regional forums like ours needs time to coordinate our input to a new major release. I agree with Mark that an additional period should be added to the process in order for all to provide input to a major release. Best regards Mikkel Hippe Brun Chief Consultant, M.Sc.
