Subject: DocBook Conversion of NDR
As promised, attached is the first version of the NDR 2.0 converted to Docbook. The NDR authors were amazing in adhereing to the Word styles which made this conversion work well. This version will need some cleanup but I thought I would pass it along to begin a dialog about how information in the NDR should ultimately be tagged. All paragraphs have a role attribute on the <para> element when I couldn't find a content tag for the specific style. The rules are tagged using <blockquote> element. <blockquote role="Rule" id="rule-GNR1"> <para>[<emphasis role="rule-prefix">GNR1</emphasis>] UBL XML element and type names MUST be in the English language, using the primary English spellings provided in the Oxford English Dictionary. </para> </blockquote> What I see that needs to be done: 1. Decide on tagging for various paragraph constructs - should they remain as <para> with 'role' attributes or is another appropriate Docbook element. 2. Add unique ID's at all the component levels (this process will be automated). 3. Decide a standard UBL id construct. 4. Decide how to ultimately tag the data in the front.xml file. This is currently tagged as <chapter> because I couldn't find anything in the <bookinfo> element that supported the data.
