Subject: SV: SV: [ubl] Question about document reference in UBL Order 2.0

Is the opinion that we should use QuotationDocumentReference even if the quotation is not an UBL message? I tend to agree with that.

Kind regards

I agree with Martin.  Use qualified associations where possible.  That way the name reflects the usage and we dont rely on values in the document content.

In this case the use of LineReference for the Quotation should not be a problem. Its usage would depend on the business case.

If the two faxes came as separate Quotations then you would specify Line 1 for the car and its DocumentReference (and Attachment).  You would also specify Line 1 for the truck service and its DocumentReference (and Attachment).

If the two faxes came on the same Quotation then you would have line numbers (or similar) to identify them.  So you could specifiy Line 1 being the car and Line 2 being the truck service.  Both of which would identfy the same DocumentReference (being the Quotation) but different Attachments.

Hi Alan,

I know that we have discussed that all document references in UBL that reference a document type that is also part of UBL 2 (like QuotationDocumentReference) should be qualified. Other documents not part of UBL like Inventory report or contract should use the unqualified DocumentReference and use the document type code to specify what kind of document is referenced.

So from my point of view, you should use the qualified reference. Though there might be a problem if you want to use QuotationLineReference without knowing the line number (that is mandatory).

Ämne: [ubl] Question about document reference in UBL Order 2.0

Hi All

I have at question about usage of document reference i documents. Is
usage described below correct?

In a case where a customer receives two faxes with quotations for
different goods: 1. A car for sale, 2 Maintanance service for a truck.

The customer sends a UBL Order to order both items in one UBL Order and
he want to attach the faxes for reference. The costomer should therefore
attach the faxes to the order using Order->Orderline->DocumentReference
, in an appropriate imageformat.
Order->Orderline->QuotationLineReference->DocumentReference should NOT
be used since the format I non-UBL.
