MINUTES OF ATLANTIC UBL TC TELECONFERENCE WEDNESDAY 10 APRIL 2013 14:00UTC ... ANS Status - this was announced last week, has everyone reviewed it before this week's meetings? http://www.oasis-open.org/policies-guidelines/liaison-policy-ansi-addendum - Ken H. approached TC Administration for guidance - very supportive response has been received - Pacific call comments: - committee discussed our preference for running the BSR-8 comment period in parallel with the OASIS 60 day membership review - Atlantic calls: - a number of concerns were expressed during the call - OASIS and ANSI are both considered as North American and that no benefit may be gained by making the effort; would non-North-American countries be concerned that it is too North-American-centric? Would this jeopardize any future efforts of bringing UBL through an ISO process? - the ANS process should be done *after* the OASIS process is fully completed and not before, because if there is negative feedback from ANS members then it can be accommodated in UBL 2.2 and not delay the completion of UBL 2.1; if it is done in parallel, then the risk is that one organization says "yes" and the other organization says "no" and that may undermine the credibility of the organization saying "yes" - not wise to go to only one national body, should we also be going to, say, the Northern European countries for additional acceptance? - possible perception of OASIS work being an out-sourced work source for ANSI and not being independent - Ken H. to convene a brief one-off single-agenda-item teleconference at a time suitable for members of both Pacific and Atlantic calls to discuss this issue, rather than try to get it done by email - when we come to an agreement on how to proceed, Ken H. to ask TC Administration for guidance on the appropriate motions and ballots and any specification modifications required for the BSR-8 review
