Subject: Bylaw Am's: quarter immed. following
In the 2000.06.16 test of the amendments to the Bylaws, art 15 has much to say about spans of time. I am happy that we have come to such a polished set of terms for such things, but not sad to raise one last point on this topic, with a suitable sense of wistfulness ... . Here's the rub: Thirty days shall be allowed for administrative processing of a proposed standard. The proposal shall be submitted to the OASIS membership for review at the beginning of the calendar quarter immediately following the 30 days allocated for administrative review. but as defined, Calendar quarter -- one of the spans of time extending from January 1 through March 31, April 1 through June 30, July 1 through September 30, and October 1 through December 31. so there is not necessarily a calendar quarter immediately following the 30 day period (indeed, only 1.096% of possible periods qualifies). I suggest substituting "at the beginning of the first calendar quarter following". regards, Terry
