Subject: XML Security 2.0 drafts published - request for comment
The W3C XML Security working group has published [1] First Public Working Drafts of Canonical XML 2.0 [2] and XML Signature 2.0 [3]. The intent of the 2.0 releases includes simplification, ability to stream, improved performance, and improved security. Canonical XML Version 2.0 is a major rewrite of Canonical XML Version 1.1 that provides a declarative approach to canonicalization using parameters, addresses performance concerns (and implementation best practices), and effectively incorporates an 2.0 update to Exclusive Canonicalization. XML Signature 2.0 includes a major simplification of the transform model, while attempting to continue to allow 1.1 transform practice if necessary. Section 10 outlines changes from 1.1 [4]. The Working Group is seeking review and comment on these documents, and requests that any comment be sent to public-xmlsec-comments @ w3.org Information on other deliverables of the XML Security WG, including the in-progress 1.1 release, is available at the publications page [5].
