Yuzo,
Good catch! I support your proposed change. It's consistent with our previous resolution for issue 72.

Subject: [wsbpel] Issue - 128 - WS-I BP Incompatible WSDL Import

This issue has been added to the wsbpel issue list. The issues list is posted as a Technical Committee document to the OASIS WSBPEL TC pages on a regular basis. The current edition, as a TC document, is the most recent version of the document entitled in the "Issues" folder of the WSBPEL TC document list - the next posting as a TC document will include this issue. The list editor's working copy, which will normally include an issue when it is announced, is available at this constant URL.

Issue - 128 - WS-I BP Incompatible WSDL Import

Status: open
Categories: Related standards
Date added: 14 Jun 2004
Submitter: Yuzo Fujishima
Date submitted: 14 June 2004
Champion: Yuzo Fujishima <fujishima@bc.jp.nec.com>
Document: WSBPEL Working Draft, April 23, 2004
Description: The example WSDL in 6.1 imports an XML Schema Definition file in a way incompatible with WS-I Basic Profile.

The example imports the XSD file as:

<definitions ...
  <import namespace="http://manufacturing.org/xsd/purchase"
        location="http://manufacturing.org/xsd/purchase.xsd"/>

where this kind of import is prohibited in WS-I BP section 5.1.2:
R2001: A DESCRIPTION MUST only use the WSDL "import" statement to import another WSDL description.
R2002: To import XML Schema Definitions, a DESCRIPTION MUST use the XML Schema "import" statement.
R2003: A DESCRIPTION MUST use the XML Schema "import" statement only within the xsd:schema element of the types section.
Submitter's proposal: Modify the example as follows:

<definitions ...
  <types>
    <xsd:schema>
      <xsd:import namespace="http://manufacturing.org/xsd/purchase"
         location="http://manufacturing.org/xsd/purchase.xsd"/>
